BROOKLYN- The campus of Columbia Central played host last night to a junior varsity/varsity volleyball tri-match with teams from Jackson High School and Coldwater making the journey.
The Lady Golden Eagles fell to the Lady Cardinals (24-26; 25-23; 22-25) in a very competitive opening varsity contest. Columbia trailed 6-0 before finally pulling even at 21-21 to set up an exciting finish. In set #2, Columbia Central held on for the 25-23 win and in set #3, more of the same, as the two teams matched point for point before the Lady Cardinals closed out the victory.
In the nightcap match, the Lady Golden Eagles played from behind most of the night before handing Jackson High School a (25-23; 26-24) loss. On Saturday the Eagles defeated the Lady Vikings for the championship in the Jackson County Tournament.
The Junior Varsity squad fell to Coldwater (25-23;27-25) and to Jackson High School.(25-15;25-16) The Junior Varsity is back in action this Saturday when they host the 15 team Columbia Invitational held on the four courts of Columbia Central.
