Multiple Teams · Hanover Horton Wins in OT

BROOKLYN-  The Lady Comets of Hanover Horton outscored the Lady Golden Eagles 10-2 in the fourth quarter last night to force overtime and then pulled away to a 47-41, non-conference victory.  The senior night loss dropped the Eagles to 8-10 on the season with just two games remaining in the regular season.

Columbia led by as many as eight in the second half but just could not put the Comets away.  “We played well in spurts but could not score in the fourth quarter.” Coach David McDevitt commented after the game. The Lady Eagles led 34-26 after three periods but were shut out for nearly eight minutes until a pair of Cameron Daniels free throws forced overtime with :14 seconds remaining.

In the four minute overtime, the Lady Comets used an 11-5 run to pick up the Saturday night victory.

Daniels finished with a game high fifteen points for the Lady Eagles while teammate Alissa Fish add eleven points.

Between games, the five seniors and their parents were recognized with an on court celebration.  Abbey Hatler, Hailey Dickens, Cameron Daniels, Alexa Tackett and Lyza Myers comprise the Girls Basketball Class of 2017 and played their final regular season game at Columbia Central.

In the junior varsity contest, Anna Hosmer scored fourteen points and Meredith Nye chipped in with thirteen points to power the Little Eagles to an exciting 36-35 overtime win over the Comets.
