CLINTON- Six solid innings on the mound from junior Noah Osburn along with an inning of tense pitching from sophomore Khol Partridge led the Golden Eagles to a district final appearance this morning. At 3 pm the Eagles will face either Onsted or Manchester for a district crown.
Each team picked up a run in the first inning with two out hits. Columbia Central upped the lead to 4-2 in the fourth inning, the big blow a triple for sophomore catcher Gehrig Elliott. A single run on a hit batter pushed the lead to 5-2 entering the sixth.
Clinton answered with a pair of runs on an error, walk and a hit to make it 5-4 entering the top of the seventh. The Eagles put two men on with no outs but could not score giving the Redskins one last opportunity.
In the seventh, Partridge was called in to get the final three outs and he did with a game ending pop up to first baseman Derek Schiel.
